Audrey's birthday

I still can't believe my little Audrey is 2 already. She's growing up so quickly. Audrey had her 2nd birthday on August 2nd. Derek took the day off and we braved the Brookfield zoo in the 94 degree weather. She had been talking about the monkeys all morning and was really excited to see her little friends. By the end of the zoo trip, she was worn out!



Well, we made an Elmo cake for her. That was interesting trying to get the frosting to work. We used an entire bottle of red food coloring, to find the icing become hot pink initially. That was a bit disappointing, but as time went by it got redder and redder! And it was rewarding to hear her say "Elmo's World!!"

All in all, we think Audrey had a good time. We hope she knows how much we love her and thinks she's the greatest daughter around. In the morning she didn't quite understand what Birthday meant but by the end of the evening she was singing Happy Birthday to herself.
